Berlin Irish Youth Tournament 2024
Berlin Irish RFC hosted the first youth tournament of the season at Jungfernheide on 29th September.
Teams from Berliner Rugby Club, Rugby Rostock and Rugby Klub 03 took part across three age groups: U8, U12, and U14.
The U8 tournament was won by a very competitive RK03 Team 🏆
In the U12 competition, the Berlin Irish team put up a strong performance against very physical and skilled teams from Rostock and RK03. A huge improvement was seen across the tournament, and the team showed great defensive coordination and an eye for a gap in the line to score some worldies! Ultimately, the team won one game and lost three, but we've learned a lot from the experience 🔥🔥
In the U14 games, the young players of the Berlin Irish team were put together with players from Rostock and RK03, to compete against a very well drilled and skilled RK03 1st Team. The squad performed very well and showed great skill and commitment, again demonstrating good defensive coordination and tackling prowess. Sadly, a win was beyond them, but the players will no doubt have learned a lot from the experience. 💪💪
A special thanks to Nico Vasilevski for coming on Sunday to referee for us. Also, big thanks to all the members of the BIRFC who organized and drove equipment back and forth, as well as staffing the BBQ. Finally, a huge “thank you” goes out to all the parents who contributed their time and energy to help out during the day. Next tournament will be hosted by BRC on October 12th, so come down and support us 🙌🙌
